Mr Randall - The current Crew is interested in why you're standing on the bonnet of your Cruiser in the middle of the Franklin River???

It seemed like a nice place to stop and smell the roses

well actually the main reason for being on the bonnet was to get out of the water as the river was flooded due to the end of winter melt and f*#* me the water was cold Shocked

anything else ?

I believe we were on our way to the Jane River track however it was even deeper on the far side of the river hence the middle of the river was as far as we got. With us was a Hertz Rent-A-Hi-Lux driven by Colin Attril & the CB radio never did work again. There is another pic of Lethal's Cruiser playing in the King River flats mounting a pile of rubble - unfortunately now this area is drowned thanx to Lake Burbury. I remember stealing the Cruiser for a drive while others were swimming in the river. I used the hand-throttle & judging the clutch-less gear changes with the right amount of revs. I also remember a nice fire somewhere along the side of the Lyall & waking up the next day looking at approx 50 guide-post reflecters lying next to the coals. Can't remember much else - it was near 20 years ago....

Aren't those posts treated? Sounds familiar to the sorry tale of the Twilight Tarn Hut doorstep....

Dunno - Haven't tried to get a Cruiser with drum brakes to Twilight Tarn. 20 years ago chemical treatmant of guide post was limited - that's why now they're plastic. Now leave this section for old bastards......

In answer to your question Dave it was resting and relaxing in the bath Very Happy
Squiz is pretty much right with the rest of it, stealing the cruiser for a joyride, large inferno of guideposts hastily removed from the roadside via rent-a-lux front bumper, its also amazing what you can do with a rent-a-lux they seem to go places and achieve speeds that a normal Hilux just can't Very Happy
I've posted a few shots from that weekend i had laying around in Dave's member's gallery
Most other info that can be supplied about that weekend has been erased in an attempt to protect the guilty and probably should stay that way

graft and corruption not withstanding Very Happy

old age hasn't yet blinded you yet
Suhr Robert was in attendance

2 other small points

on return of the rent-a-lux with broken front spring a refund was forthcoming from Hertz

the next person to hire that particular rent-a-lux complained quite strongly to Hertz about the wet seat and was known to another member of the crew at the time who passed on the story Very Happy
